"The secret to having your affirmations work quickly and consistently is to prepare an atmosphere in which they can grow. Affirmations are like seeds planted in soil. Poor soil, poor growth. Rich soil, abundant growth." - #LouiseHay
This is a perfect metaphor explaining what tapping does, and the work I do with clients around their beliefs and what they are thinking. We HAVE to go through that poor soil that's been feeding the plants we are trying to grow in our lives. It's no wonder we create small plants, weeds, maybe even kill a damn succulent that's supposed to need basically nothing..
Our foundation over time has become toxic to what it is we want to grow in our lives. It's unconscious, WE AREN'T EVEN AWARE WE ARE DOING IT BECAUSE IT HAS BECOME SO INGRAINED IN OUR DAILY HABITS AND LIVING, WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING DIFFERENT.
Goddess, it's ok... you aren't alone. We all do it. AND, the good news, is we can dig up that old soil with #tapping and POOR IN NEW, FRESH, SMELLY GOOD, LIFE GIVING, RICH IN NUTRIENTS SOIL so we can give our plants, thoughts, beliefs the support to grow into their greatness.
When you work on digging out that old soil, you create internal SPACE for something new. Your mind begins to shift and open up to possibilities because it recognizes what was there before.
This is what is so good about about the acceptance piece when tapping, we have to ACKNOWLEDGE what's there first, so we can let it go. Think about it, if you can't see the giant elephant in the room, you just feel it, how are you supposed to pick it up with your strong muscles and move it? YOU CAN'T. It just takes up valuable space and you wonder why you are feeling the way you are, you wonder why you can fit anything else into your home, you wonder why you are feeling so heavy, burdened, exhausted, uninspired.
IT'S BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE WHAT'S THATS THERE TAKING UP YOUR SPACE.
This is why the steps doing #EFT , #tapping are so powerful because you are naming the elephant ( the emotion), where you feel it in your house (your body), and BRINGING ACCEPTANCE THAT IT'S THERE ( "I deeply and completely accept myself" or "it's ok, I acknowledge that it's there").
You then breathe a little deeper, your shoulders maybe drop, you feel less heavy, and you create some internal space.
So, if you're thinking, "Carly, affirmations have never worked for me, they just aren't my jam" I invite you to say hello to that inner critic, and to be open to the possibility that maybe you just need to clean out some elephants first..
Side note, I love elephants... just not in my home :).
